MLK ENTRY FEATURE

Boynton Beach, Florida

The “I Dream” MLK Entry Feature is envisioned as a symbolic gateway an inviting civic moment that reflects Martin Luther King Jr.’s enduring vision of unity and collective hope. Positioned at the intersection of North Federal Highway and NE 10th Avenue / MLK Boulevard, the design transforms the corner into a welcoming landmark that draws the community together.

A landscaped pedestrian pathway weaves through garden pockets and pebble-stone seating, guiding visitors toward a central sculptural form the “EYE.” Framing direct views to the art wall, the “EYE” references Dr. King’s “I Have a Dream” message, with integrated seating engraved with the words Dream, Love, Hope, Unify, and Believe. At its center, an inscription reads: “Be the peace you wish to see in the world,” reinforcing the feature’s message of reflection and personal responsibility.

An adjacent area to the feature wall accommodates small gatherings and performances, while a thoughtfully designed buffer wall mitigates nearby train noise creating a sense of comfort and security within the space.

More than an entry marker, this feature is conceived as a place of pause, perspective, and inspiration encouraging the community to embody the dream it represents.
